About This Place

Dakao Sandwiches is a hidden gem on Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas, offering authentic Vietnamese sandwiches that bring a true taste of Saigon to the city. Specializing in Vietnamese cuisine with a focus on banh mi, this cozy sandwich shop is where simplicity meets flavor in every bite.

The menu features a delightful range of traditional banh mi options, including the standout Meatball Banh Mi, Banh Mi Dac Biet (House Special), and the ever-popular Grilled Pork sandwich. Each banh mi showcases the perfect harmony of crisp, fresh baguette, savory meats, a delicate smear of pate, and vibrant pickled vegetables, elevated by fragrant herbs that transport your palate straight to the streets of Vietnam.

Beyond sandwiches, Dakao Sandwiches tempts with dishes like Canh Bun – a comforting Vietnamese water spinach noodle soup – and the hearty Chao Long Mixed Offal Porridge. For those with a sweet tooth, the Banana Fritter adds a charming tropical finish. Beverage offerings like the robust Black Iced Coffee and creamy Vietnamese Iced Coffee perfectly complement the savory flavors on the plate.

The dining atmosphere here is unpretentious and straightforward – a true no-frills Vietnamese sandwich shop that values speed and authenticity over flair. It’s this genuine approach that diners rave about, as highlighted by customer reviews praising the fresh ingredients, satisfying portions, and the undeniably authentic flavor combinations. The space exudes a local vibe, often bustling with those seeking quick, delicious, and affordable meals.

Customers notice the quality craftsmanship behind each sandwich. Although some have remarked on occasional minor hiccups like bread not being served warm or a touch of gristle in the meat, these moments hardly dim the overall satisfaction. One customer perfectly summarized the experience: “fresh sandwiches with pate – a must-have for any true banh mi lover.” Another noted the perfection of the bread, calling it “OMFG perfect,” and many agree the prices, hovering around $7 to $8, offer excellent value for the authentic taste provided.

Whether you’re a banh mi aficionado or new to Vietnamese sandwiches, Dakao Sandwiches delivers an inviting, honest taste of Vietnam in the heart of Las Vegas. Its commitment to traditional flavors, speedy service, and affordable pricing makes it a standout stop for anyone craving a flavorful, satisfying meal on the go.

I was on the hunt for the best Banh Mi in Vegas and this place came highly recommended. A bit of a whole in the wall and the menu is JUST banh mi - both good signs in my book. Tried the steak (they were out of grilled pork, fair as they closed in less than an hour). I wish the bread maybe was warm, but biggest issue was steak had a lot of grissle. Otherwise pretty good Banh Mi overall.

Came to this Vietnamese sandwich shop that was recommended from a Vietnamese friend and he was absolutely right. This place is the real deal and the sandwiches are fresh and most importantly they put pate on some of the sandwiches which is definitely a must when it comes to Vietnamese “Bahn mi”…. I got two sandwiches and it was seven dollars each so I got out of there for about $16 including tip. I love the baguettes. I love the meat inside and I love the balance and texture and I will definitely be back so thank you thank you thank you and great job…:)

I haven't had a lot of real banh mi sandwiches at this point in my life, but Dakao really impressed me! Maybe a little light on the amount of filling inside, but the quality is there and the bread is OMFG perfect! 1000% worth it for the money too at around $7 per sandwich!

They make it fast! Recommend the $6.47 Banh Mi Thit (Pork) and their $2.50 fried banana. No fuss, local Vietnamese banh mi fast food shop, so we weren't expecting much. Depending on when they sellout, they can close earlier. So I'd recommend calling if you plan to visit late afternoon or evening. For SoCal banh mi loves, this place is a 3.5 star for being decent. For Vegas, it's a 4 star. Woot woot! Finally a place that is better than my disgruntled local picks...like places that taste like American potato salad, or Lees Sandwiches (A banh mi chain I never thought I'd ever need to ever buy a banh mi again. But that was my SoCal life thinking. Vegas life with the banh mi scene is a desperate situation). Staff suggested both #1 House and #2 Thit. Their diakon and carrots are not sweetened or even overly sweetened like many other places. $6.47 #1. House Special Bun Mi (cold cut style). I love cold cuts but one isn't for me. $6.47 #6 Bun Mi Thit (pork) is probably the recommended pick. $15 Canh Bun (Vietnamese Water Spinach Noodle Soup). Simple, and clean. I've never had this before. The soup isn't as think as my 1 experience with Bun Rieu at a different restaurant. The broth here was light, but I didn't really get much seafood infused taste. Nonetheless, I would reorder this again if craving comfort night soup. Takeout to heat at home, or eat there. $2.50 Fried Banana. Yum! You'd think it'd be soggy or spongy but it wasn't. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It wasn't overly sweet either. I may be interested to try next time -- $11 Chao Long (Pork Offal Congee). $6.47 #6 Bun Mi Thit (pork) to confirm if consistency is still the same. $2.50 Fried Banana again because I love pastry like desserts. This place reminds me of typical casual take out Vietnamese food like banh mi, fried snacks, and quick food to go. The staff speaks English. Takes credit card. 2 small tables here but it's more of a takeout.

It’s very affordable Vietnamese sandwich. The bread is very soft. I got #5. Next time I will try meatballs. Delicious

My husband and I love banh mi sandwiches, and every time we find a good restaurant, we have to stop. We arrived at Dakao around 9ish in the morning on a weekday, and while we had a pretty large order, we didn't wait to long. We ordered a 1, 2, 5, 6,and 12, doughnuts, sesame balls, and Vietnamese iced coffee. This place was delicious, and the gentleman that took our order was nice and fast in getting to everyone's orders. The sandwiches were great, and we ended up leaving with about 7 sandwiches.
